I do have the DAR library copy of the Pension application depositions for
Hannah Cahoon and Isaac Mayo scanned into my computer and can send anyone
a "rich text" copy by e-mail upon request.
I think Hannah came from Rhode Island (Block Island) In fact I think she
could have been born there and am going to start looking. I am trying to sic
all my other 8 cousins to try the same. I can't get to Salt Lake library
before fall (god willing) and there aren't any resources here in CA on that
area. I will be digging. I believe she was Scotch in origin.
As for Isaac. Do you have anything different than I do on the depositions?
He was a fascinating man.

If you have this information abstracted or even transcribed, consider
posting it to the Pensions board,
<http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/c/a/CAHOON/pensions>
and share this information with your fellow researchers. Rootsweb has
now created a "gateway" from the boards to the list, so you will no
longer have to rely on me to clean up my Admin posts and send them on to
the list.
The members of this list haven't made much use of the wonderful research
aid that Rootsweb has provided for us. Ask yourself a couple of
questions -- If not me, who? If not now, when?

QRYTEXT: I am making a family tree for my grandchildren and I am looking
for my relatives. I have found quite a considerable amount about the
family, however I keep finding that there are invisible branches all
over my tree. I got to one point and found that the branch grew in
another direction ? I am trying to find out where all these crazy
branches connect, so I am looking to the family for awnsers.
So far this is what I know for sure.
Great-Grandfather was William "Lee" Calhoun or Cahoon
he married Matilda Pope
Grandfather was Geter Tillman Calhoun b.1900 born in North Carolina and
d. 1971 in VA, married Lucinda Thomas (would also like to know her
family)I do know that she had an Uncle named Samuel Thomas and her
sister was Leona Thomas and Leona married my grandfather's brother
Robert Calhoun.
Father Hobert Lee Calhoun b. 1930 in Avery Co. NC, he is still living.
His first wife was Dorthy Shepard and his second wife my mother is Betty
Ann Bray Calhoun.
Then there is me Charlotte Ann Calhoun Spell, I was born in Newport
News, VA in 1958.

Really goofed her marriage date. Aug1781 about a month after the intentions
were filed. She could have been born anywhere and was available in Harwich
when Isaac Mayo was bride looking.

Hannah Cahoon is well documented after her marriage to Isaac Mayo Aug 1771
Harwich , Barnstable, MA. Intent in Harwich and Chatham records 7/14/1781.
d. 8/20/1853 Brownville, Piscataquis, ME says age 93. 1850 census gave age
91 which fits with the pension papers and other records. Any records in
Brownville went up in a fire in the early 1900's. The graves can not be
found and were probably missed when the grave yard was moved from the river
side to a hill in about 1919 to build a playground. Her birth place and
parents remain a mystery. I know there was a Hannah born in 1744 in
Eastaham, much too early.
