On the 1880 federal census of Warrensburg township, Johnson County MO:
John CAYHILL, white male age 51, married, Farmer, born in Ireland, as were
both parents. His wife Mary, also born in Ireland, is age 35. There are six
children: the oldest Willie (my ancestor William Earl CAHILL) was age 14, born
in KY. All the younger children were born in MO.
The children are:
1) William Earl CAHILL, born Jun 1866 (probably in Pendleton County) in KY
married on 10 Sep 1889 to Alice Josephine BURCH;
died in Jan 1905 in DeKalb County, MO in a railroad accident;
buried in Warrensburg, Johnson, MO
2) Edward CAHILL, born about 1869 in MO;
3) Mollie CAHILL, born Apr 1871 in MO;
4) Maggie CAHILL, born about 1873 in MO;
5) Ida CAHILL, born about 1876 in MO;
6) Alice CAHILL, born Jan 1881 in MO;
7) Thomas CAHILL, born about 1884 in MO;
8) James CAHILL, born about 1887 in MO.
John CAHILL/CAYHILL/KAYHILL was supposed to have come from Ireland with his
brother as an indentured servant, to work in a furniture factory in KY.
Supposed to have fought in the Civil War.
Anybody have further information? Parents?
