In a book by Dennis King, which is still being written, entitled "The Irish-
Norman name of Looby" it lists several Cahills in different parts of the book.
I thought I would pass these on in order to possibly help some of you. (For
your info - Looby is sometimes spelled Luby.)
Michael Luby died on 25 Jan. 1900 at the age of 54. His wife, Mary CAHILL Luby
is buried with him being 56 when she died on 4 April 1902. Their children,
Michael (died on 30 Nov. 1941) and Teresa (22 Dec 1953) are buried with them.
Richard Looby and Honora Cahill saw a daughter Margaret born 8 March 1810 and
a son James born 16 September 1815.
James Cahill was the mayor of Clonmel (Cluain Meala or Honey Meadow) in 1908 -
1909, which sits on the River Suir in the Golden Vale of Ireland.
From parish records, in 1901 a Mary Cahill was listed as living on
Nicholas
Street in a 2 room house, with 1 person on 3 April. John Wall was the
owner
of the house. (Common to all bldgs.: Walls were stone, brick or concrete.
Roofs were slate, iron or tiles. All bldgs had 2 rooms and 2 windows in front
and were considered to be 2nd class buildings. Each bldg had only one family
living in it.) Nicholas Street was just off Buttery West (now Mitchell
Street) and was in the town of Dungarvan.
