Dear Judy,
My ggfather's John, gfather Patrick and uncles John middle name was
Sylvester. Their last name was Cahill. I have had no real clues only guesses
but the name has to be a strong lead. Do you know anything else about the NY
Cahill's. I can not find John and now am wondering if John was his second
name????????? Any help or suggestions???/

Hello and thank you for offering this information.
I am looking for any information on:
SYLVESTER CAHILL b. 1815 in Kilkenny Ire.
brother - HUGH CAHILL b. ?
1/2 brother - MARTIN CAHILL b 1823 in Kilkenny
I know Sylvester was in NY City & had a Shoe business on Broadway as early
as 1849
Martin enlisted in the Army in 1846 and came to California to fight in the
Mexican War
I know nothing about Hugh except that he was a brother.
Sylvester ended up in New Jersey and was one of the founders of Cranford,
NJ.
If any of this matches - please let me know.
