GREEN VALLEY, ARIZ. - Thomas V. Cahill, 89, formerly of Youngstown, passed away peacefully
at his home in Green Valley, on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
Thomas was born in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) on Jan. 22, 1925, a son of the late
Johanna McEvoy and Michael Cahill.
He worked as a steelworker at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company, retiring in 1985, and
subsequently moving to Arizona.
While living in Ohio, Tom was married to Mary Lou Schromofsky Cahill and had nine
children. He was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown and was active in the parish
CCD program and Boy Scout Troop.
Mr. Cahill is survived by his wife, Maria Elwell Cahill, whom he married in October of
1987; his former wife, Mary Lou of Austintown, Ohio; his nine children, Mary Beth Gibbons
of Youngstown, Carol (Joseph) Pilz of The Villages, Fla., Sue Rendano of Canfield, Brother
Timothy Cahill CPPS of Dayton, Sister Sharon Cahill with the Humility of Mary Sisters in
Vienna, Va., Dr. Lois (David) Cavucci of Youngstown, Louise Mason of Liberty Township,
Terrence (Joyce) Cahill of Youngstown, and Thomas (Carolyn) Cahill of Columbus; 15
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A sister, Julia "Sissy" Fraser and
two brothers Jim Cahill and Eugene "Patrick" Cahill, are deceased.
A Mass of Christian Burial with an Irish theme will be celebrated on Thursday, June 5,
2014, at Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Green Valley.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014, at St. Brendan
Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown, OH.
Family and friends are welcome to join in the celebration.
