Miss Rose Cahill one of the oldest members of the St. Patrick's Catholic church died
at 10 o'clock Sunday morning at the residence of F. C. Myer of 169 West Jefferson
street. Dropsy was the cause of her death. Miss Cahill was well known among Catholics of
Decatur. She came here from Cumberland Co. Md. in the early 50s. For many years she kept
the little book store across from the Catholic church. She lived in Chicago a short time
after she gave up the book store but came back to live with her nephew, F. C. Myer after
the death of his wife. She was 68 years old. Beside her nephew in Decatur, Miss Cahill had
a brother in Quincy and a nephew and niece in Ivesdale. Bishop Elder of Cincinnati is her
cousin. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning from St. Patrick's
church. Dean Murphy will conduct the services.
