FREMONT: Herb Cahill, 75 of Fremont, Ohio died early Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at his
home.
He was born on June 29, 1935 in York Township, Union County, OHIO to his parents and
educators, Bruce and Mary (Dillon) Cahill.
Herb graduated in 1953 from Northwestern High School in Raymond, OHIO, where he was the
president of his class.
On August 6, 1968 he married Sharon Sickmiller in West Virginia and she survives.
He was a member of the Ohio National Guard and worked as an Agricultural Salesman for
Rural-Serv retiring in 1996.
Herb enjoyed hunting, dirt track racing, standard bred horses and following the Clyde
Girls basketball program. A former member of 4-H, he earned the Spirit of 4-H, one of its
top honors. While with 4-H Herb showed his love for animals, winning cattleshipman awards
at the Richwood and Ohio State Fairs.
He is survived by his wife; son, John (Lindi) Cahill all of Fremont; granddaughters,
Amanda of Clyde, Ohio, Caroline and Abigail Cahill of Fremont; brother, Bob (Margo) Cahill
of Mt. Victory, OHIO; sister, Judy (Dave) Masters of Gahanna, OHIO; nephew, Greg (Kim)
Masters of New Albany, Ohio; great niece & nephew, Dillon and Paige; and his Canine
Best Friend, Jack.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the
Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont, Ohio. Services will
be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Tobergte
officiating. Burial will follow at McGormley Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Clyde, Ohio High School Girls Basketball Program in
Herb's memory.
