Message Board Post:
The family story is that James immigrated to Canada about 1840 with his wife Mary (Ready),
his sons (Thomas b 1830 Kilkenny, John b 1833 and Pierce b 1835), and his two brothers.
They worked in a rock quarry in Canada until about 1844 then they moved to the Chautauqua,
New York area to work on a suspension bridge. James then moved to Scales Mound, Illinois
about 1848 to work on a railroad between Galena and Freeport. Although we have information
on James and his descendants we have no information on James' brothers (including
their names) or their fate. Would appreciate any information or suggestions on how to
resolve this mystery.
