Did you by any chance have a relative Michael Cahill that would of been born around 1860
in Ireland, that would of came to Johnstown, PA then to Pittsburgh, PA.
This is my Great Great Grandfather. He married a Margaret Daugherty either in Ireland or
England.
I can not find any relatives or where in Ireland he came from. His death certificate
shows his father
as James Cahill and and his mother as Bridget (can't read her last name but it may be
Reilly).
Thank You
Darlene

Ahhhhhh well John my folks came over more than 100 years BEFORE the
potatoe
famine...the early 1700's...first real document I found is 1730. My John came
from the port of London and married an Ellen O'Connor. They/their kids etc...
lived in Maryland...by 1772 many were in Pennsylvania and only a couple stayed
in Maryland . John and his kids were near Baltimore, then Fredrick &
Hagarstown, and a college at Emmittsburg has many of their earliest records. Then they
went eventually..or at least my branch...to Mount Pleasant SE of Pittsburgh
before crossing the Ohio River into Carroll/Harrison?Jefferson and Belmont
Counties in Ohio...mine eventually drifted farther south to Ross County where my
cousins still live. SOme one names Cahill went North Central Pennsylvania about
20 miles north of MONTOUR and there is a CAHILL Mountain. I have yet to
contact their chamber of commerce or public library to find out the histroy of that.
Happy ancerstor hunting JOhn. Someday we should all meet and have a Cahill
Cousins whoever distant...type gathering...everyone would of course have to
bring their genealogy and the shelter house would have an electric plug in to copy
all the interesting tidbits of...STUFF.
Keep in touch if you want or need encouragement from time to time...
A Distant Cousin,
