My Cahill family is most likely from Co. Galway, but that conclusion is
based on strong circumstantial evidence. Irish birth records for the time
you are researching would be church records, but they are few and far
between. I have had the best luck from Declarations of Intent, the papers
filed before Naturalization. That often includes the county of origin, but
also depends on the judge and the local form requirements. I don't know
anything about papers files in your area, but do give it a try.
