Helen ,
As regards Jane Bateman , there is a marriage record for a Charles Bateman and Anne
Bateman ( same surname ) in
www.irishgenealogy.ie/church records in the parish of
Rosscarbery and Lisavaird ( near Clonakilty ) in Feb 1836 . Also there are baptismal
records for children of this couple born in Woodfield ( this is the same townland that
Michael Collins was born in 1890 ) as follows : James 1836 , Joan 1838 , Samuel 1839 ,
Catherine 1841 , Charles 1845 and Anne 1847 . Jane is not listed , this could be because
the records are not complete ( which is not unusual ) or this is not her family .
Woodfield is located just outside Clonakilty town . Also if you log onto
www.askaboutireland.ie/griffiths valuation you will find that a Charles and Anne Bateman
were tenant farmers in the townland of Woodfield in the parish of Kilkerranmore about 1850
. Their landlord was Lady Carbery . One further thing ,in the marriage record the
transcribers give the witnesses as Watersons but when I ch!
ecked the original it looked like their names were Charles and William Bateman .
As regards Michael Cahill the only thing I can find is on
www.irishroots.ie where there is
a record for a Michael Cahill born in Co Cork in 1836 . His father's name is Laurence
not Lawrence . It is free to register on this particular site but if you wish to see a
record there is small charge .
Denis .
