Lee,
I have not researched this Cagle family line. I looked through the stuff I
have on Tennessee Cagles and find that I don't have anything from Maury,
Obion or Weakley Counties. I would have to rely on John G. Cagle's work
for anything I could find and I am sure you have probably done that already.

Subject: Lost Cagles
List: I am attempting to discover who the following Cagle is and how
he
ties into the main CAGLE branch. Hopefully, he is a descendant of
Leonard Cagle, b. 1683. Since
this is a branch of Cagles in Tennessee, I am relying heavily on David
for assistance.

P.S. for those of you who have been watching the news of the tornadoes
here in
Okla City, I am happy to report the thing went over the house without
touching
down, but I hear the terrible roaring.
Descendants of Unknown Cagle
Generation No. 1
1. Unknown1 Cagle was born Abt. 1828 in Tennessee. He married Pauline
Unknown. She was born 1830 in Tennessee.
Notes for Unknown Cagle:
Unknown Cagle is thought to have died between 1869 and 1879. The 1880
household of Pauline, his widow, indicates that the three children listed
in that census had both parents born in Tennessee; therefore, Unknown
Cagle was born in Tennessee, if the census taker is right. The groom was
usually from born within 5 years of the brides age, so we are guessing
Unknown Cagle to have been born between 1825 and 1830.
From the 1880 census, Pauline is shown as 50 yrs of age, so at the time
of Thomas' birth her own age would have been 36, thus she would have had
a good 16-18 years of childbearing years prior to Thomas' birth. I
predict, there will be several siblings older than Thomas.
Children of Unknown Cagle and Pauline Unknown are:
2 i. Thomas W2 Cagle, born Abt. 1866 in Obion Co., TN; died November
1889. He married Cordelia Hanvy 26 December 1883 in Maury Co., TN; born
01 July 1868 in Maury Co., TN; died 01 August 1937 in Walters, Cotton,
OK.
Notes for Thomas W Cagle:

Thomas CAGLE Son S Male W 14 TN Works On Farm TN TN
William CAGLE Son S Male W 13 TN Works On Farm TN TN
Columbus CAGLE Son S Male W 11 TN Works On Farm TN TN
In 1888, Thomas appears in district 7 which is just to the west of
Martin,
Weakley Co., TN and on the east side of Obion County where he paid school
tax of $2.00. He had no land or personal property for which he paid tax.
Since taxes
are paid following the year due, we can assume he was present in the
month of
Jan 1889.
He died in Jan of 1889 of pneumonia/flu. About a year after his death
Delia remarried to an Albert Blankenship and moved to Corn, AR.
In about 1900 they moved to Montague County, Texas. They lived about 4
miles north and 4 west of St. Joe, Texas. I have an audio tape I made
with my grand dad in 1976 telling about the trip in a covered wagon. My
grand dad is William Tom Cagle's son who said his dad was a trucker. When
I questioned him about this, he explained that his dad hauled trees in a
wagon pulled by oxen. I thought that was interesting.

Four years later Robert A Brown, 1862-1924 died and was buried next to
his
wife, Jo Brown, 1867-1918 in Burrus Chapel Cemetery, Lake County, TN.
This
would seem to confirm the "widow" status of "Bob" Brown in the 1920
Census
of Lake Co., TN; however, the difficulty comes with the previous census
of 1910:

Notes for James Cagle:
James "Jim" was apparently born before Thomas and already out on his own
before the 1880 Census of Lauderdale Co., TN.
This may be our James, more research need to be done.
