David,
These are the notes I have for Charles 4:
Charles moved from North Carolina to Warren Co., TN in 1822, then to
Winston Co., Alabama in the
1830s. His first wife, d. 1840s was the mother of sons, John T b. 1821,
Lloyd H b. 1823, James Riley b. 1824, Jeremiah b. 1828, George W b. 1835
and Silas b. 1838. Charles then married Leannah Cagle, daughter of
Valentine Cagle, Jr, b. 1766 who also moved to the Winston Co., Alabama
area in the 1830s.
1820 Warren County, TN.
Cagle, Charles 20001 - 1 ( p.002)
1830 Warren County, TN
Cagle, Charles 202001 - 120001 (p.373)
Charles is thought to have purchased 87 acres from Daniel W Martindale
for $800 on 4 April 1837, then resold the same land to Archibald C
Houston for #1,000 on 22 Jan 1838.
1840 Walker Co, ALA.
Cagle, Charles 1122001 - 0100101 (p.300)
His location for the 1850 census was Hancock (Winston) Co. AL. His
daughters are believed to have been named Martha and Rhodie Cagle, and
his sons were as follows:
John b.ca.1821 1850 DeKalb
Co. AL.
Lloyd H., b.ca.1824 "
" "
James Riley b.ca.1826 1850 Winston, AL
Jeremiah b.ca.1829 1850 DeKalb Co. AL
George Washington b.ca.1835 1870 Pope , ILL.
Silas b.ca.1838 1860 Dunklin,
MO
Notes: a second-hand report indicates that John T, Loyd H. and Jeremiah,
along with their brothers Riley (b.1820s) and Silas b. 1838, with sisters
Martha and Rhodie, were the children of Charles Cagle, who died in
Alabama. The Charles who seems to match their description most closely
would be Charles Cagle of 1840 Walker Co. AL. (now Winston Co.) who had
six sons and two daughters at home in 1840. The fact that Jeremiah and
Loyd H. later owned land in Winston Co. in 1855 and 1857 show that they
did have ties to Winston.
1850 Hancock County, Alabama Census, # 55 (page 742 Vol II).

Charles and Anna (Leanna) sold 40 acres (SW 1/4 of SW 1/4 S31 T10 R9W) to
William Stokes for $150 on 12 Dec 1851, recorded 27 Jul 1887 and 16 Dec
1911. The courthouse burned in 1889. Many of folks re-recorded their
land purchases and sales to have them on record.

Charles 5 "
Lavina, age 8, above , later married William Carroll Cagle b.1851, the
son of John Cagle, 1824-1898, of Lawrence Co., AL who was the son of
Valentine Cagle, Jr. b. 1786.

Nadeen and Lee,
I would like to see a little more on Charles 4 (See notes above)
and Henry Sr.3.
Either my
ancestor wound up in Winston AL or old David had a set of sons named
Henry.
I don't think we can both claim this Henry?
I thought Henry Sr. was the son of David 1728-ca 1794 and the father
of
Henry Jr., George and Charles who came from Cabarrus Co. NC to
Hardin Co.,
TN. The 1833 Tax List of Hardin County shows:
Henry Cagle Sr
Henry Cagle Jr
George Cagle
Henry Cagle
James Cagle
I agree with what is contained in the above paragraph.
It has been my opinion that this last Henry Cagle and James Cagle
moved to
Winston Co. AL vicinity soon after 1833. However, I do not know
the
whereabouts of Henry Cagle, Sr after 1837. He entered land in
Hardin Co that year
***Yes, his survey was dated 3 Jul 1837, but he never completed
the
process to get title to the land. It is not known if he died in Hardin
Co
which may have prompted the move of his sons to New Madrid or
he may have made the move and died before 1840.
Do you have any insight to this possibility.
