Dana,
You are right, we have established that Leonard was in Holland for a
short
time before sailing first to Cowes, England then to America.
Also, I believe his son, Johann Theobald Dewalt "David" Cagle was
baptized on 29 Apr 1728 rather than May 1728 just to keep us all
on the same sheet of music.
Dana, that is good news with respect to your Leonard. Perhaps, soon the
puzzle will be solved.
Good hunting,

Good job, Lee. Thanks for getting so much information together. I do
have one
question (is anyone surprised?): Haven't we reached the conclusion
that the
immigrant was in Holland for just a short while before leaving for
America
since someone found where his son, David, was baptized in Germany in
May of 1728?
I could be confused on this.
Have picked up a bit of information on the ancestry of my Leonard
Cagle
(1798-1866) that I am not sure if I have shared with the list. A
family story from
a cousin I had never met before last year says that Charles Cagle,
son of
Leonard and Mary Cagle Osborne, said that his grandfather had come
to America from
Holland on a ship that also brought a Van Cleve family. Not sure how
accurate
this story is but it sure puts my branch in the same location as old
Leonhart
Kegel.
