Lee,
I am sending this to help you get my name back in your address book.
Sometime when e-mail gets slow, you might send me what you have on my
family. I could proof same and see that we agree on all the little details.
Following is a list of all the original Cagles who came to Hardin Co., TN.
Further below is my line.
Hardin County Tennessee Cagles
1. Charles Cagle, 1780's-?
The first Cagle of record in Hardin Co. TN was one Charles Cagle who, along
with others, as shown in Record Book A, January Court of 1823, was appointed
to lay out an maintain a road from Brown's Ferry on the Tennessee River to
Able Oxford's place. The Ferry site was located just south of what would
become the Shiloh Battlefield. Able Oxford's, today, is located in McNairy
County. McNairy was originally part of Hardin as was Hardeman, Fayette and
Shelby.
On September 23, 1834, George Cagle, brother of Charles (?), sold 100 acres
in Hardin Co. TN. Charles Cagle was witness to the transaction. In 1837
and 1838, Charles Cagle bought and sold 87 acres in McNairy Co., then
disappears form the record. I am at a loss as to what happened to Charles.
2. George Cagle ca 1780's-1840
George left Cabarrus Co., NC for Hardin County TN in the early 1820's. On
May 31, 1826, George Cagle entered 100 acres of land in Hardin County. When
George sold this land in 1834, Charles Cagle, above, was witness to the
transaction. George was married to Elizabeth Freeman and had a large
family. Their children were:
John S. Cagle, b. ca 1827
Charles, b. ca 1830
Rhoda, b. 1830
Nancy C. b. 1834
Mary L. "Polly," b. 1838
Deborah Tabitha, b. 1840
George and his family moved to New Madrid Co., MO in 1838 where George was
killed by a falling tree in 1840. His wife and children moved back to
Hardin County.
3. Henry Cagle, Jr. 1780-1857
Henry Cagle, Jr. sold his property in Cabarrus Co. NC in 1828. By 1830, he
is enumerated in the 1830 census of Hardin County. He first obtained land
in Hardin Co. in 1837 near other tracts that were obtained by his brother
George and his father, Henry Cagle, Sr. Henry Jr's first wife is unknown.
His children were:
John Cagle, 1813-1879
Debba Cagle Smith, 1821-1872
George Cagle, 1827- aft 1880?
Sarah Cagle Hulin, ca 1830-?
Eliza Cagle Bishop, 1833-?
Susan Cagle, b. ca 1835-?
Henry Cagle, Jr. also moved with most of his family to New Madrid Co., MO in
1838. His first wife died somewhere along the line and Henry married a
second time to Rebecca _______? On June 9th 1857, Rebecca married Ransom
Fludy. The marriage bond was recorded on 30 July 1857, Henry Hightower, JP.
4. Henry Cagle, Sr. ca 1760-ca 1838
Henry Sr. moved from Montgomery Co., NC to Hardin Co TN after the 1830
census and before 1833. In that year, he appears on the Tax List of Hardin
County. Henry was married to Elizabeth(?) Wagoner. It is not know when she
died. Henry does not appear in New Madrid Co. MO records with his sons. It
is assumed he died ca 1838 in Hardin County.
5. Henry Cagle, b. 11 July 1793
Two other Cagles arrived in Hardin County about the same time as Henry Sr.,
above. These Cagles were Henry and his son James who both appear on the
1833 Tax list of Hardin County. Henry and James do not remain long in
Hardin Co. and move to DeKalb Co., AL where Henry appears in the Census
there. Henry and James both appear in the 1850 census of Hancock Co., AL,
then in Winston Co. Henry is a son of Valentine Cagle who died in Warren
Co., TN ca 1815.
6. Valentine Cagle, b. 1853 AL
Valentine Cagle and a large family moved into the northwest corner of Hardin
County between 1900 and 1910. Before moving to Hardin County, this family
had lived for several years in adjacent Wayne Co., TN. They originated in
Winston County AL.

Ashley, LaMona & List:
Ashley, the last chart I sent you has this correction already. So no
need to do anything else until additions are made then
I will send you an update with the latest from John G. after I receive it
in the mail.
LaMona, I have had a crash again and lost my address book or I would have
addressed this to you personally; however, this is
the only way I can be certain you will get a copy of my response as well
as anyone else who may have William C as "Cooper".
Thanks for your attention to detail.
Lee
P.S. LaMona, since Ashley cut and pasted this to me, please send me your
email address. I have lost yours as well as everyone
else's. If you don't mind, send me Nancy Jane, Doyle Chambers, David in
Tennessee, Tom's at Tool City, etc.

Ashley hi this is LaMona I have been entering some of your information,
just wanted you to know I had not forgotten you. However I did notice
that Lee Cagle and others have William C. Cagle, Sr & Jr's middle name
"Cooper" this is incorrect. A lady started this, and a message was sent
over the Cagle News that is on line directed by Earl Cagle, that this is
not true this was William's occupation: Any way I want have this name in
my report. I hope you have enjoyed doing the Cagle family tree.
Sincerely, LaMona
