Dear List,John Henry Anderson Cagle, complied and wrote a book titled The Pirkles And
Their Descendants in the USAby Prof. John A. Cagle, Greenville, Texas 1933.In his book he
speaks of two brothers who came to the Colonies from Germany before the American
Revolution. He doesn't give names other than to say the name was spelled Kagle, and
were from Germany.Of course we know of Leonhart Cagle, but did he also have a brother he
came to the colonies also.He then mentions the first census of North Carolina in
1785.Jacob Cagle, with seven children, Roger Cagle, with four children, George two, George
five, John seven,Christian three, David three, Leonard eleven, and William Cagle who had
eight children and married Sarah Bruer. He then says all of the Cagle's in the United
States came from these families of Cagle's.He says in his book introduction that he
spent many years in his research.John Henry Anderson Cagle, was born 04 Jun 1863 in Hall
Co; Ga. I haven't found his death record yet.He was married to Lillian May Jopling
born 23 Jul 1873 in Johnson Station, Tarrant Co; Tx.They were married on 28 Jun 1899
Grayson Co; Tx.He was a son of Anderson Penn Cagle, Nancy Ellena Pirkle. Anderson, was a
son of Herman Harmon Cagle, and Nancy Elena Dunn.
Also on another subject of Cagle, i found this. In the 1790 NC Census Salisbury District
Mecklenberg Co; NCPage 161 Caigle, Charles 2 3 5Page 162 Caegle, Henry 1 4 1We have
discussed these two Cagle men in years past. However, i don't recall what was
discussed and found about these families. As of right now Rootsweb, Ancestry doesn't
have the old Cagle archives avaliable. These date back to September 1998 when i started
the list. These archives contain a treasure trove of data, some from researchers who are
no longer with us.For especially the new list members you can find so much data on Cagle,
and allied families. As soon as i find out the archives are available again, i will let
members know.Best Regards,Earl D. Cagle Sr.
