Thanks for the many emails asking about our Book Committee meeting on
the 22nd.
There was a capacity crowd at the April 22nd meeting of the Moore Co.
Heritage Book Committee. Several newcomers, and a whole lot of regular
members!
The main topic of discussion was family stories and pictures. Like all
other NC County heritage books, the main thrust of the book; Moore
County - NC Heritage - 2005 is family history
genealogy and heritage.
More than a dozen incentive awards were passed out to those who took the
challenge and brought a story and picture! Based on attendance,
enthusiasm and e-mail response, the new book will be a fabulous one!
The Committee members (and guests) were given a one month extension to
write and bring their family stories and pictures. The next meeting will
be on May 20th, 6:30 PM at the Sagebrush Steakhouse (1500 US Hiway 1) in
Southern Pines. Persons must be present to win the incentive award.
Deadline for the general public will be late 2004.
In addition to numerous family stories, there were several other topical
articles submitted; Linden Garden Club, Longleaf Garden Club, Moore Co.
Bee-keepers, Bethesda Presbyterian Church "High Falls" to name just a
few.
Best bet is to come and see what all the excitement is about; May 20,
6:30 PM at the Sagebrush Steakhouse in Southern Pines. If you are not
within driving range, you may mail your material to: Moore Co. Heritage
Book, PO Box 3151, Pinehurst, NC 28374. You may also email:
