Jean,
Henry Long was born ca 1740 in VA, died in VA aft Apr 1803 and married
Anna Catherine Pence who was born in VA and died in NC.
They had the following children:
Anna Catherine (1762-1838) m. Jeremiah Clontz
Magdalene "Mollie" (ca1764-1820) m. Philip Hagler
Henry (ca1766-1843) m. Nancy Katherine Kiker
John (ca1766-) m. Mildred Hinson
Jacob (1769-1851) m. Barbara Hagler
Margaret "Peggie" (ca1771-) m. Charles Seahorn
Adam (1774-1849) m. 1st Lydia Walters, 2nd Hannah Polk (Mrs. Sides)
Mary (ca1778-) m. _____ Polk
I am descended from Catherine Clontz Polk, 1798-ca1870, the daughter of Jeremiah and Anna
Catherine Long Clontz, who married Charles T. Polk, 1780-1839.
Catherine and Charles T. Polk moved to Hardin Co., TN ca 1824. Their daughter, Eliza
Catherine Polk, 1816-1873, married John Cagle, 1813-1879, the son of Henry Cagle, Jr. and
the grandson of Henry Cagle, Sr.
Henry Cagle, Sr., ca 1760-ca 1838, married (Elizabeth?) Waggoner, both apparently of
Mecklenburg, then Cabarrus Co., NC. Henry is thought to be the youngest son of David
Cagle, 1728 Ger.--1784-90 NC. The 1790 census shows that Henry had 4 sons and no
daughters. In 1800, he had three sons and 2 daughters. Then in 1810, he has one son and
two daughters or a daughter and a 2nd wife in his household and two sons, Henry Jr. and
David living nearby. In 1820 Henry Sr. moved across the Rocky River into Montgomery Co.,
NC and that census is lost. Sons, Henry Cagle, Jr. and George Cagle continued to live in
Cabarrrus County until they moved to Hardin Co., TN, George in 1826 and Henry Jr. in 1828.
Henry Cagle, Sr, moved to Hardin Co., TN ca 1832 and apparently died there ca 1838.
I have not been able to determine the names of the daughters of Henry Cagle, Sr. One
possibility is Eliza or
Ellen Cagle, b. 1807 Cabarrus County, NC. She married John Henry Taylor b. 8/25/1808
Montgomery County, NC. A Taylor descendent believes they were probably married in Hardin
County, TN. The other possibility is Catherine Cagle who married Jeremiah Clontz, Jr.
Any help on these lines would be appreciated.
David

I do not have your second e-mail regarding lineage from Anna Catherine Long and Henry
Long.
Do you have info regarding Henry Cagle Sr., and his children. Jeremiah Clontz married
Anna Catherine Long, d/o of Anna Catherine and Henry Long. Jeremiah and Anna
Catherine's son Jeremiah Jr. b. ca 1785 married Catherine Cagle. I know Henry Cagle
Sr. moved and have not been to Cabarrus co. to research info regarding Henry Sr.
