Ken,
Very interesting the Cagle information you have. Some I have seen, some I
have not. I am also a descendent of David Cagle. I would like to know the
source of the statement that he was married to Katherine Cockman in Moore
Co., NC in 1749. I see where John Francis Cagle was born in Stanley Co. in
1744? It was my understanding that the Cagles did not leave PA until ca
1754?
Who prepared this information?
David

• A story is told that Mary, as a young girl, was walking on the
boardwalk
of Nashville, Tennessee ca 1809 when Felix, son of Nashville's
pioneer,
Jacques Timothe de Montburn, declared, "If that girl is not spoken for, she
will be my wife". Mary had Indian ancestry, thus explaining her know
reputation as an excellent mid-wife and Indian herbologist. The Cagle
family, while living in North Carolina, took in a young Indian girl
considered terminally ill by her native tribe, later to have the Indian girl
marry one of the Cagle men: thus Mary may have learned her herb doctoring
from an Indian mother or grandmother.
