Kim,
I have worked on this before with Carol Schreiner at Ccsch1116(a)cs.com. I haven't
spoken
with her for some time now and she may have this completely researched. I suggest the two
of you work together on this. Keep me abreast of you discoveries and perhaps I might can
add something.

1860-Joseph C Cagle and wife Mila C (Holyfield) Cagle have not been located in the census
and are thought to have been missed by the enumerator. Both, Joseph's parents and the
parents of Mila are in this census and Joseph and Mila are thought to live nearby as they
are in the 1870 census.
The following note was provided by Kimberly Ann Spangrude who alledges it to have been
written by her GGrandmother, Ida Cagle , dau of Joseph C Cagle. The note was written on a
sheet of paper which she kept in her Bible. "Grandfather Cagle taught school after
he came home from the Armey. Had to quit after he went blind." This same source
stated this information along with Emma & the children's dates of birth were
included on a piece of paper in the Family Bible of Ida Nettie Cagle Cox. Along with this
information is a date of marriage for Joseph C and Emma of 29 Dec 1871" This, of
course would mean that all the children born after 1871 are children of Emma Dotson, and
the census records of 1870 and 1880 prove this out.
I believe he was in the CSA as part of the 64th Division from Haywood County, North
Carolina. I have found a Joseph C. Cagle enlisted in the CSA from Haywood County, but I
am not sure if it is him. Where can I find individual soldier's dates of birth, names
of spouses, parents, etc?

Hi, Lee. I was curious to find out if you got my previous email with
the copy of my grandmother's hand written note with the birth dates and
names of my great grandfather Joseph Cagle and great grandmother Emma
Dotson Cagle, and their children. If you did, what did you think of
it?
