Lee, I just noticed some problems in your post: If Emmaline and Joseph were married 1871,
then all the children from Edward on would be from the union of Emma and Joseph, unless
Joseph was a polygamist. In my family records I have that Ida Nettie aka Martha I. was
the daughter of Emma and Joseph, not Easter aka Esther. In the 1870 census we see Joseph
Cagle married to Esther with Pinkney (10), Thomas (7), Sally (5) and Jane (3). In the
1880 census we see Joseph (here Cagle is spelled "Kagle") married to Emmy, and
they have Henry (13), Edward (8), Laura C. (5) and Martha I. (3). I need to do some more
research on my g-grandmother Ida Nettie Cagle, aka Martha I., and see if I can find an
obituary or something else that give more infight into these names and dates.
