We know that Leonard the immigrant and his family were of the German
Reformed Church in 1728 when son David was baptized in Germany. My Cagles
reached Hardin County TN from NC in the mid 1820's. When I first learned of
their religious preference, they were Presbyterian.

There was a Rabbi Cagle, from New York who I once emailed about his
heritage, that raided the question. Anyone ever heard anything along thesed
