The Will of George Jr., in 1851, shows that Howard's name was actually
Harwood Washington Cagle . The family had originated in Moore County, in the
Fayette Dist, of North Carolina, as noted they moved westward to what is now Stanley
Co., NC in the 1780s.

State of North Carolina, Stanly County
I George Cagle of the County of Stanly and State of North Carolina Being of
sound mind and memory, but considering the the uncertainty of my earthly
existence do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form
following; that is to say, first, that my executor herein after named shall
provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my realations and
friends, and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts howsoever and
to whomsoever owing out of the moneys that may frist come into their hands as a
part or parcel of my estate;
Item. I give and devise to my Eldest daughter Mary long a part of the land I
now live on the have and to hold to her and her heirs in fee simple forever
that is to say: Beginnign at a stake on the West side of the mill branch and
runs East to a rock, from the rock to the other line where it crosses the said
branch.
Item. I give and devise to my daughter Sary all the balance of the tract of
land I now live on to have and to hold to her and her heirs in fee simple
forever.
Item. I give and bequeath to my Eldest daughter Mary Long, one cow and calf
the second choice.
Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Sary two cows adn calves, her first
and third choice.
Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Sary four head of sheep herchoice.
Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Sary one sorel mare about five years
old, saddle adn bridle to have and to hold to her and her heirs in fee simple
absolutely forever.
Item. I give and bequeath to my son Harwood the sum of ten dollars, to be
paid by my executors herein after named in the same manner as the last bequest
and is maid under the same views in reference to the former advancements.
Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Catherine the sum of one dollar as
her rite and property forever to be paid by my Executors in the same manner as
the last bequest and is maid under the same views in refference to the former
advancements.
Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeths heirs, Adam W. Hunnycutt
and Eli B. Hunnycutt, five dollars each, to be paid by my executors, herein
after named, within two years form my death beloning to my estate mot otherwise
disposed of .
Item. My will and desire is that all the residue of my estate if any, after
taking out the devises and legacies above mentioned shall be sold by my
executors herein after named or they may keep the property and pay of (i.e., pay off)
the legatees at their option or whatsoever manner they may think best, and
collect all debts owing to me, and pay of (pay off) all debts that I amy ow. And
lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friends, that is to say
my two daughters Mary and Sarah to be my lawful executors to all intents and
purposes to execute this my last will and Testament, according to the true
intent and meaning of the same, and every opart and clause thereof, hereby reboking
and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore
made in withness whereof I the said George Cagle do hereunto made in witness
whereof I the said George Cagle do hereunto set my hand adn seal This 23rd day of
December A. D. 1850

Harwood died in 1865 and is buried at Cagle Cemetery at Wheeler Bend in Pope
County, Arkansas in a unmarded graves .
They moved to Pope County, in 1836, from Fayette, Moore County, NC. and
setted on the West Bank of Illnios Bayou North of Russellville, Arkansas where the
water plant is located. Harwood brought with him Millstones which were about
ten years old. With these he built a water mill believed to be the first West
of the Mississippi River. He ground wheat and corn for people within a forty
mile radius of the mill.

listing; note his widow in the 1900 Pope. (the town of Caglesville, which
contained 18 families in 1880, grew up around the home and mill of Ishmael N.
Cagle. He also served as the Postmaster of the town.

They are both buried at Rock Springs Cemetery , South of Hector , Pope
County, Arkansas . Ishmael took over the Mill when His father died . During
the Civil War he was left at home to grind flour and meal for the women,
children and old people. In 1852 he moved this family near a spring of water and
helped establised the town of Cagleville. He moved the mill and converted
it to a steam-power , said to be the first of it"s kind in this area. He
also built a Sawmill, Planter, a Cotton Gin, Carding? and Spinnig factory and
a Tannery to make shoes . He was one of the first Postmasters of Cagleville
(established in 1879) . He ran a General Store with the Post Office in the
front of it. He gaave land and lumber fot the combination Church and School
at Cagleville. Ishmael help establish this town called Cagleville.
