Earl - thanks so much for your note. I agree and absolutely encourage everyone to join
their particular surname project as it is critical for advancing surname research. The
good news is that you can be a member of multiple groups with FamilyTree DNA. By
starting a geographic based group it is my hope to further connect others to existing
research. For instance, I descend from both John Dutchman Cagle and Henry Cagle, sons of
Leonard Kegel, and a very interested in Cagle research but because I descend from two of
their daughters my ability to study their Y-DNA is limited. I do hope that you will join
the project as it will allow folks like myself and others interested in Cagle ancestry a
chance to review and understand current and future matches. Surname groups generally
(rightly) limits access to those of the particular surname only.
Again, many thanks for the email and I do hope that you will join!
Morgan
While I very much appreciate and respect any efforts to research DNA,
I felt an obligation to make any Cagle researchers aware of the Cagle DNA Project that I
established in 2007. The analysis is by FamilyTree DNA and the Project is administered by
World Families Network at
http://www.worldfamilies.net/ or go to FamilyTree DNA and search
on Y projects under "C" for Cagle. We have two including me that have joined,
that prove our paper trail which we profess to go back to Leonhart Kegel. I am very much
interested in the results of your Moore County project since my ancestors Peter and Rachel
Boling Cagle along with there adult children and their families migrated from Moore County
to the Pickens/Cherokee Counties of Georgia. If you agree to have your DNA matched for
public observation no doubt those that are of Cagle lineage will be posted to the existing
Cagle Project. With my best wishes for much success, Earl L. Cagle, Sr.
