Ashley,
I just found him, age 7, in the Montgomery County, North Carolina
1880 census. The person who took the census wrote the name as Cagli,
instead of Cagle.
Here first is his mother, a widow:
Page No. 6, District 125. Schedule 1. Hill Township, in the County
of Montgomery, State of North Carolina, enumerated the 4th day of
June, 1880. Dwelling #55, family #57, Cagli (Cagle) Martitia .
Race: White. Gender: Female. Age: 31. Relationship: not stated.
Marital Status: Widowed. Occupation: Keeping House. Place of
Birth: NC. Father's Place of Birth: NC. Mother's Place of Birth:
NC.
Here he and his siblings are on the next page:
Page No. 7 ,District 125. Schedule 1. Hill Township, Montgomery
County, North Carolina, enumerated 4th and 5th Days of June, 1880.
Dwelling #55, Family #57 (continued from previous page). Cagle,
Lydia Jane. white female, age 9. Relationship: daughter.
Cagle Martin J. white male, age 7. Relationship: son. Single.
Born in NC. Father born in N.C. Mother born in N.C.
There is another male child listed, but I am not sure of the name.
Here is the website link, if you have a membership with
Ancestry.com. If not, I can send you the PDF with the census.

Martin Jason Cagle born 1873 in North Carolina had a son named
Jonah. He left his first family for reasons unknown and started a
new life in Sherman Texas. He married Maggie Lee Jones born 1880 and
went by Nora. He had a son Named Wesley Kenneth Cagle born in 1904
in Wayne County, Oklahoma. His draft board was in Dennis, Delaware
County, Oklahoma. Later he moved to Stephen County, Oklahoma and had
a son named Jackie Kenneth Cagle born in 1931. The mystery is who
was the father of Martin Jason Cagle thought to be from around
Sheffield, Moore County, North Carolina. First wife might have been
Dicy Cagle found in the 1900 census of Sheffield, Moore County, North
Carolina. I am hoping that someone in North Carolina is looking for
this missing link. Lee Cagle is also trying to help me but I really
could use some input from North Carolina
