Thank you. I can eliminate this John and start on the umpteen other
possibilities.

John Cagle 1770s-1840s, married shortly after the 1800 census, to
Sarah
Lathem, and their oldest son Hery was born c. 1802. Henry accompanied John
to Clay Co., IN in 1830, and in 1834 his own son, Eli Cagle, was born.
John Cagle's land entry of 1803 joined his own property (probably the 222
1/2 acres which he had inherited through his father's Will of 1802), and the
lands of Henry Cagle Jr., Henry Cagle Sr., Cornelius Lathem, and David
Allison. Henry Cagle Sr., John's father, was deceased by this time, of
course, with his home place having been left to his widow, Catharine and
youngest son Martin. John Cagle appeared in the Moore Co. censuses of 1810
through 1830, then departed for Clay Co., IN sometime between the summer of
1830 and Dec of 1830.

1830 Moore Co., NC: Cagle, John 00201001-00230001
The age brackets above show that John and wife were in their 50s by the time
of the 1830 census, though all of their children still seem to have been
unmarried and living at home. Joining the John Cagle family in their move
to Indiana were members of the Lathem family. John's younger brother George
1782-1854, bought 135 acres from John at his move to Indiana.
Planted 80 acres federal land in Clay County, IN in May 1830 when he
obtained a patent for the same amount of land. He later acquired other
acres.
