Letter from Office of Sevier County, Historian, Samuel Andrew Maner:
To Whom It May Concern:
I, Samuel A Maner, Sevier County Historian hereby certify that William
Cagle, Jr born C. 1780-1790 and listed on the 1840 Sevier County Census,
as the same William Cagle, Jr page 186, line 20 is the child of William
Cagle, Sr., born C 1754 (Listed in the 1850 census Sevier County house
842) line 18 of the same 1840 Sevier County Census.
This William Cagle, Sr received land grant #13162, Granted 16 Mar 1826 and
recorded 14 Aug 1826, 50 acres on the headwaters of Knob Creek. This same
land was sold by George Calaway Cagle, son of William Cagle Jr, Deed book
returns after the fire, pg 347 recorded 24 November 1874
