Dear Members,
After looking at transcriptions of the Henry Cagle will, and copies of the actual will i
have determined this is,
What Henry Cagle, is saying is my daughter Inna Caterana Cagle. The name Inna, is
misunderstood as in law.
There is a ink smear that makes transcribing difficult. This all makes perfect sense at
least to me. As there are many records in her and or her husband Joseph Cockman names. As
an example :
1790 Census
Joseph Cockman
(16+) 1M
(0-16) 1M
3F
1800 -- Census, Moore County, NC Page 59
Joseph Cockmon
(45+) 1M 1F
(16-26) 1F
(10-16) 1M 1F
(0-10) 1M 3F
1802 -- Will of Henry Cagle, Moore County, NC
Inna Caterana Cagle listed as daughter to Henry Cagle
1810 -- Census, Moore County, NC Page 604
Catherine Cockman
(45+) 1F
(16-26) 1M 2F
(10-16) 1M 1F
(0-10) 1F
1815 -- Tax List, Moore County, NC
Catherine Cockman lists 150 acres valued at $150
1818-1823 -- Tax List, Moore County, NC
Catherine Cockmon lists 150 acres valued at $120
I have Inna Caterana Cagle, born 1755 in Moore Co; NC. She married Joseph Cockman about
1780 in Moore Co; NC.
She died 1818 Moore Co; NC. Joseph Cockman born 1745 NC and died 1808 Moore Co; NC.
Notice that she is listed in 1810 Moore Co; NC census with some of their children and no
listing, for Joseph. Then also a
1815 Tax List for Moore Co; NC
Best Regards,
Earl D. Cagle Sr.
And so in closing this makes mine and many others case as to daughter or in law.
