Subject: Re: [CAGLE] CAGLE Digest, Vol 3, Issue 144
Good morning Micah, Lee, Camille & the Cagle group;
Let me explain how I am "connected' to the Cagle's;
Dysa Caroline Curtis, from Bradies Landing, Tennessee married George Henry Cagle, also
from Brandies Landing, in Decatur County, Tennessee in the early 1860's. They had the
following children: Mary A; 1863, Thomas A; 1866, George Henry; 1866, Levi J; 1869,
William I; 1870 and Moses; 1874. All of the children were born in Tenness except for
Moses, he was born in Missouri. George Henry Sr died in Charleston, Missouri in November
1873.
Dysa married my great-great grandfather; Mitchell A. C. Canter in Iron Co, Missouri 15
Dec 1876. Mitchell's first wife Martha also died earlier, he had 4 children; Bryan,
May (Mary) Canter; 1865, Aron Mitchel; 1867 & Millie; 1871. The story from there is
not too clear; but one of the two left and Mitchell's children were somehow spreadout
between family and the state. My great grandmother is May Canter. Dysa and Mitchell may
have also had a child; Willie Louis; 1877. I don't know what happened to him either.
In the mid-1890's May Canter marries A. J. Putnam in Jefferson Co., Missouri and
from Mitchell's Civil War Pension records, May is living near or with Dysa and two of
her son's who also now live in the Festus/Crystal City area of Jefferson Co.
Missouri.
Dysa and her 3 youngest sons then move to Indiana, where Dysa dies in 1915. May
Putnam stayed in Missouri. I have death dates of Moses dying in 1904 and William I. dying
in 1906; also in Indiana.
So as you can tell, I am not "directly" related to the Cagle's, but since
they are somewhat a part of my family history, I would like to know if anyone has
information on this family.
1: Does anyone know anything about a child being born in the Iron or St. Francois
County area; Willie Louis 1877?
2. Does anyone have any information on Bryan or Millie Canter; did they stay with
Dysa? I can't find any info on these two children of Mitchell's.
3. Does anyone have information on Dysa after she left/he left each other?
Thank you for your time and information

Hi Karen,
Yes, I am a Cagle coming from Southeast Missouri, grant it, I do live in Arkansas now.
Everyone but me in our immediate Cagle line lives in Southeast Missouri and our direct
ancestors have lived in the Dunklin/New Madrid/Scott county area since the 1820's or
so.
Here's my direct lineage: My great-grandfather was Luther Thomas Cagle married Vera
Moore. His father was William Cagle, married Minnie Jordan. William's father was John
C. Cagle, married at least twice. John's father was George Cagle, married to Malinda.
George's father was Henry Cagle, Jr. and his father was of course Sr. And then, well I
forget, but I can tell you we go back to Leonhart Kegel. The line begins in Germany, then
to Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Tennessee, (possible Kentucky), and then to Southeast
Missouri. Sorry, I'm usually able to spout my Cagle line off quite easily but I've
been working on another family line and my brain's a bit muddy. Anyway, would love to
hear from you...don't know if we're kin or not but since most of my Cagle records
come from Southeast Missouri, I might have ran across your relative's records even
if we're not related. Just reply to this thread and I'll try to keep an eye out
for your response.
