Earl,
Good work. Would the mother of the deceased soldier SFC William T Cagle, Jr be
the son of Mollie M Cagle, b. Jul 1885, Marion Co., AL?

For those of you that may recall I have recently been on my soapbox regarding
DNA and its importance in genealogy research. I had also posted a rambling
piece on my efforts to assist DOD in locating a female descendant of my
grandfather's sister to be used in an attempt to identify remains turned over by
the North Koreans. I received news today that the DNA sample submitted by the
party I finally identified, was used to identify the remains of SFC William T.
Akins, Jr., son of W. T. Akins, Sr. and Mollie Mariah Cagle. W. T. was a medic
and along with two other medics and a chaplian stayed with the wounded near
Unsan, North Korea when the Chinese over ran their position on November 2, 1950.
All of our efforts were worth the closure it brings the family. May he rest is
peace. Best wishes to all, Earl Cagle
