Could someone please look up a piece of information for me in your book
titled The Cagle family in the South to 1850 : North Carolina by John G.
Cagle?
Several years ago, I am sure I saw in this book, at a library 50 miles away,
that there was a Henry Cagle in Rowan Co., NC. (At the time I was looking
for John and Lucy Cagle of Lancaster Co., SC.) Please look in the index and
see if you can find Henry Cagle in Rowan Co., NC. I believe what I saw was
near the front of the book. I believe it was one of the earliest Cagle
entries in the book. I would like the information given about Henry on this
page. I am hoping it makes reference to a specific location in Rowan Co.,
NC but I would be happy to receive whatever it says about him.
If you cannot find Henry Cagle in Rowan Co., NC, look at the Cagles in the
index which are found on pages with the lowest numbers (less than 100) to
see if there was another male Cagle in Rowan Co., NC.
Henry Cagle married Caterana Seitz the daughter of Henry Seitz. This Henry
Seitz lived west of the Catawba River on Killion's Mill Creek as early as
1754. I believe Henry Seitz and his family fled to the Dutch Second Creek
area in Rowan Co., NC due to the April 25th & 26th 1759 Cherokee uprising.
I believe he is the same Henry Sides who had made an improvement on Dutch
Second Creek prior to 25 October 1761. On that date, someone else received
a warrant for the land that included Henry Sides' improvements. Then on 6
April 1765, Michael Christman's grant on the north branches of Dutch Buffalo
Creek in Mecklenburg Co., NC included his own and Henry Sights improvements.
I believe these three Henry Seitz/Sides/Sights are all the same person.
I am looking for where Caterana Seitz and Henry Cagle could have met. I
believe it was in Rowan Co., NC.
Please look under Kagle, Caigle, Kegle, Keagle and other variant spellings.
Thank you,
Carole Irene Crismon Cook
