Hello List,
I have been researching the Cagle's, that settled in Lawrence Co; Mo. One of
them is Finis Ewing Cagle, a son of Edwin Cagle and Mary Fletcher Orr. I found
him in the 1900 census in of all places Boco de Quadra Southern Alaska Teritory.
He was living in Ketchikan, Alaska an old gold mining town. My wife and I have
been there on an Alaska Cruise. It is a beautiful little town that sits on the
water. The information shows the census was taken from 6-13-1900 to 6-21-1900.
It shows he arrived there in July 1892. His home Post Office address was Reeds
Station, Missouri. It says he was born 10-1857 in Missouri. His father was born
in Kentucky and his mother Missouri. His ocupation was listed as a Tin Smith a
much needed ocupation for making gold pans and other utensils.Using old Cagle
archive records from Lee Cagle and Nancy Jane Balmer, postings I got his
marriage date and place. He married Gennie Goodwin b. abt 1861 Jasper Co; Mo. on
7-27-1882 in McDonald Co; Mo. I am not sure of the corerect spelling on her
first name.A posting from Nancy Jane Balmer, said he died in the state of
Washington.
So using the internet I found early death records foe Washington State. His date
of birth was 10-6-1857 Jasper Co; Mo. His date of death was 1-31-1950 in Seattle
King County, Washington. His parents names were listed but his wife's name
wasn't. So he lived an interesting life and we now know his date of death.
Regards,
Earl D. Cagle
