Dear Members,
In a recent post i made mention of a Henry Cagle, listed in 1850 Haywood Co; NC census.
It gives his birth as 1798 in SC. Then i made mention of who i believed to be his father
Peter Cagle.
John G. Cagle, in his January 1998 Cagle Journal pages 7 thru 11, mentions a Kaigler
family livingin SC at the time of our Cagle's. I found information on a Andrew Kaigler
b. 1730 Germany.
The same time period as some of our Cagle's births. I found no record of this surname
in ship lists covering 1727-1808 time period. However, these were ships to the port of
Philadelphia.
This family may have come to another as yet unknown port.John G. Cagle, mentions the
possibility of confusing the two surnames in some census records.
This well could be true, but i do think Henry Cagle, was born 1798 SC and that his father
may have been Peter Cagle. Of course with a variation of our surname. When you look at the
written 1790 census
and not the transcribed portion you can tell. There is a unaccounted for John Cagle, in our
family lines. At least one maybe two. He could fit into the
above family line.Best Regards,
Earl D. Cagle
