John and Others,
John Dutchman; Henry, Sr; Charles. Sr. and George left wills which names
their children. Leonard and David did not leave wills and get credit
for all the Cagles not shown on the wills of the other four. There is
some speculation as to who belongs to who. John G. Cagle in particular
and others including myself, I guess, have been working on this for
years. I have seen some of these wills on the list and perhaps someone
will post them as a result of your question. If they don't show up, I
will post the material when I have time to look it up.
Some of the ages assigned to the children of David Cagle were given when
it was thought David was born ca 1710. It was learned later that he
was born in 1728. As far as I know, with the exception of Jacob who was
born in 1755, the exact birth dates of David's children are not known.
These dates that were assumed years ago are still showing up and for the
most part are probably incorrect. Your post is exactly what is needed
to clear some of this incorrect material.
Henry Cagle, Sr., son of David and my ancestor, according to the census
information, was born 1760-65. His son, Henry Cagle, Jr., was born in
1780 according to the 1850 census of New Madrid Co., MO. This would
suggest to me that Henry Cagle, Sr. was born closer to 1760 than 1765.
It is not likely that he had a child at 15.
Charles Cagle, Sr. who died 1801 in Montgomery Co., NC is not now
considered, by most, to be the son of David Cagle, but probably a son of
Leonard the immigrant. That might answer the question about the son
being born to a 12 year old.

please
give the families of JT "John" (AKA "Dutchman"?) Cagle and Johann
