Good Morning,
Last night after sending out the response to Earl's query about Henry Kegel of
Northampton Co, PA, I decided to take another look at the Northampton Co will abstracts to
see if there may be any clues about Henry Kegel. In doing that I found a Michael Keckel
that sparked my interest. Here is some information that connects him to some earlier PA
Cagle's I posted at another time.
I'm not clear about the dates but, I believe this Michael Keckel's will was
probated in 1784. In the abstract it lists the names Magdalena, Elizabeth, Margatata,
Gartrout and Lovease (as a Godchild.) He is a yeoman in Mucungie.
This is the same person that I found several months ago in the Lehigh Church in Lower
Mucungie Twp. Lehigh Co, PA (Please note that Lehigh was formed from Northampton) and many
of the names in the will are the same as in church records. This is also the same Michael
that shows up in Northampton co land warrants in 1752 spelled Keigel and I believe in
Berks Co land warrants in 1752(spelled Cogle) For your information 1752 is the date that
Northampton and Berks were formed from other counties. You can review these earlier posts
on the Cagle family research web site under the ancestors section.
I do not know at this point how he might be related to the Henry Kegel of Northampton Co,
PA, but I suspect there is a relationship. I also do not know how this Michael relates to
Leonhart, but he is moving around in the same geographic areas we found Leonhart and some
of his children.
Have a Good Day!
Tom Cagle
