John,
You and I know that there is some mis-conception.
As an example Leonhart Kegel, arrives on the ship
Loyal Judith 25 Sep 1732. His age is listed as 48.
Of course this is how we arrive at his aprox. date
of birtf, 1684. We know most of his children, and
there may be more or less. Did he have any
brothers, who came to the Colonies? No one knows
this. Have there been baptismal records, found on
all their children ? No.Did he go back to Germany
five years later & return with children? Mabey he did
& mabey he didn't. John. there is some confusion
un-answered question's etc. We look at tax records
and beleive it was him in Lancaster Co; Pa; in 1754.
Yes, it probally was him. Then you see where David, Henry, George, John
etc. start to appear on
records. But when you look at the overall picture,
folks have done one heck of a job. Some of these
men are my direct ancestors. For my part I can tell
you it can be a hard surname to research.
Some folks are going to get Leonard's mixed up &
George's, and John's etc. John, our job is to some
day straighten this out, the best we can. After all
it is the least we can do for these wonderful people.
Earl
