Dear List,While searching with Family search i found these under their North Carolina
Revolutionary Pay Vouchers, 1779-1782.
Valentine Cagle, Wake Co; NC July 14, 1781. He was paid nine pounds four shillings six
pence.
Henry Cagle, Wilmington, New Hanover Co; NC. August 19, 1783. He was paid thirteen pounds
eleven shillings four pence.
This next name had part of the first name missing. However, i determined him to be Leonard
Cagle, Wilmington, New Hanover Co; NC Dated August 19, 1783. He was paid sixteen pounds
eight shillings eight pence
Charles Keagle, Wilmington, Hanover Co; NC. August 27, 1783. He was paid twenty pounds
five shillings six pence.
Jacob Keagle, Wilmington Hanover Co; NC. August 27, 1883. He was paid twenty pounds five
shillings six pence.
To put this into today's perspective this was some item costs at this time
period.Pound of tea 10 shillingsPound of chocolate 2 shillings 6 penceOne dozen oranges 3
schillingsPound of butter 4 pennyPound of flower 2 pennyChicken 6 penny
Silk Hand kerchief 8 schillings And a more expensive item was a chest of drawers at 2
pounds 10 schillingsAlso a treasured item that was costly at the time a family bible 1
pound 1 shilling.
