Hi Everyone
Talking about names changes, there is a William Marion Cagle AKA Jeremiah
"Jerry" Meeks. Jeremaih Meeks was born to Susan Cagle Standridge, and Squire
Richard "Richard" Meeks. Jeremaih and his brother James stole some horses
when they were young from Missouri where they were living with there mother
Susan, when they got to Arkansas Jeremaih fell in love with the Sheriff's
daughter Ella Fee and his brother James "Jim" Cagle, married her cousin Ona
Barkheimer. I have a copy of William Marion's delayed birth cert., he names

The Story goes after the bushwackers killed her second husband Richard Meeks,
she took the boys and went on the wagon train to Idaho with other family
members from 1887-1880, they worked there for awhile to save up enough money
to make the trip back home to Newton County, Arkansas, then she and the boys
all moved to Missouri ,near her brother Henry Carson Cagle . The boys stole
two horses and rode bareback to Arkansas and that's when they changed their
names because the law was looking for them . William Marion Cagle (Jeremaih
"Jerry" Standridge) was hiding on White River when he saw a pretty young girl
being baptised and wanted to get to know her. It turned out that she was the
daughter of the Sheriff of Maion County. Her name was Ella Fee and they
ended up getting married. Jim married her cousin , Ona Barkheimer.
Story was givin to me by Gewn S. and was told to her by her grandfathers
sister Edna, from Peel, Arkansas.
