Dear List,
I see in reading over Lee's response that I gave the wrong birthdate for
Virginia Victoria Ellette. The 1860 Hunt Co. census taken in Sept 1860 shows
Chas Cagle born in TN as 30 years old and Virginia born in Virginia as 19
years old. I guess she was born in 1841.
My mother found these Cagles in Trinity Co. TX census (p.341) for 1860 (down
just north of Huntsville and Lake Livingston). Does anyone know who they are?
G. W. Cagle age 59 Farmer TN
Rebecca Cagle age 40 SC
Lucinda Cagle age 20 MS
Alnada or Aluada Cagle age 18 MS
Ann Cagle age 16 MS
Almada Cagle age 13 MS
William J. Cagle age 11 MS
and George A. Cagle age 8 MS
She put a checkmark for birthplace on the last 5. I don't know if that means
MS or TX. She had to transfer that info.
Also, in my great grandfather's funeral book (Chas. Ellette C.), it states
that he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Cagles. Has anyone heard of
this group? It would either be around Dallas or Galveston, TX.
This is probably my missing child. A note in grandpa's writing, the space
next to Geo. W. Cagle at the Greenwood Cem., a W.E. Cagle. He found it in the
book but apparently no stone, no dates. I will let you know if I can get any
more info from the cem people.
