Germany with Mehlingen on it.

I had a thought about the hat that may help date it. Below is the URL for
a hat dealer in NY. I tried searching for Knox hats and this dealer came
up. A knowledgeable dealer might be able to date it by seeing the mark
inside the hat. That way you will know if it is correct vintage. Try
sending them the photo and see if they can help.
