I received the following information from Denise Cagle, one of our Cagle
cousins
currently living in Michigan. In her travels she came across this
information while
visiting in Tennessee.
Can anyone identify these Cagle folks in Grundy Co., TN?
"Some of the papers I have are last will and testaments. Some are court
records of Cagles sold because of debtors prison. Do you show any
history
on
a Darkey A.E.Cagle.The info from Grundy County - 1844 Page 305 says

Darkey A.E. Cagle to John Hughes
Elizabeth "
Georga Ann "
This day the court bound to John C. Hughes an orphan girl about 6 years
named
Darkey A.E. Cagle untill she arrives at the age of 18 years, whereupon
the
said John Hughes entered into an endenture with Samuel J. Christian:
Chairman
of the court accordingly.

bound to Ballard G. Wilson where upon Alexander M. Blair Chairman of
this
court entered into an indenture with the said Ballard G. Wilson and
bound
said child to him until she arrives at the age of twenty one years.

This day John Cagle proved in open court the killing of one wolf over
the
age 4 months, within the bounds of Grundt County. There being five
justices
present whereupon, the court ordered that the scalp of said wolf be
burned
and entered into bond for his faithful performance which was received by

court and ordered to be recorded.
