Where is our list moderator? This is not appropriate for a genealogy list.

Kimberly,
My name is Earl D. Cagle Sr. I started the Cagle list back in 1998. Although I am not the
list administrator anymore this stuff won't be allowed. I don't know who Kevin
Cagle is, but this is not allowed on our list. Find something better to do with your time.
I am sorry for anyone on our list offended by this. This mail list is for the study of
Cagle & allied families.
Regards,
Earl D. Cagle Sr.

Hi List. This did not make it through the list. I'm assuming it is a virus of some
type. I did not approve this, nor did it ever show up in the filter I use through rootsweb
to monitor these type of posts.
?
I actually have received similar emails from my mother and they do not even show up in
her sent messages of her email when I report them to her. Let me be clear here - I do not
believe this is someone's fault but rather a hacker/virus that enables these types of
messages. I received the same email from?a Kevin?cagle in my personal email/NOT connected
with the list!?I am notifying rootsweb tomorrow of the problem and hopefully we can
establish why this happened and how it bypassed our filter. I get about 24 messages a week
that are nothing but pure spam and those occur in the rootsweb filter. Until now, the
filters were adequate, so I do not believe this was an issue with the filter but rather a
unique hacking or viral situation.
?
Please reserve the need to pass blame until I have thoroughly researched and investigated
how the filters were bypassed. And please be aware, as in my mother's situation, that
it seems very possible for these emails to be sent out with the knowledge of the person
whose name is registered to the email address. In the mean time, if you receive an email
with only a link posted, these are very suspect, I ADVISE TO NOT OPEN THAT LINK! If I need
to temporarily shut down the list, I can do so, but let's give it some time to
resolve.
?
Thank you for you patience while I look into this.
?

Due to the following posts below, I am putting the list into emergency moderation status.
What this means is all posts made by members of the list must be approved by me before
they will be sent out to individual email addresses. This is intended to only be TEMPORARY
and will hopefully solve the unwelcome spam some of you have recently received. Plus it
will allow me to see if it's being sent to the list or to individual email addresses.
?
Thank you for patience regarding this matter,
?
