CAGLE LAFAYETTE, LA Douglas O. Cagle - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday,
February 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lafayette for Douglas O. Cagle,
70, who passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical
Center in Lafayette. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. Dr. Steve
Horn, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lafayette, assisted by Brother Luther Burney, will
officiate. Mr. Cagle was born Saturday, July 27, 1940 in Opelika, AL and grew up in
Mobile, where he attended Murphy High School. Doug was a very proud graduate of Auburn
University and attended graduate school at Southern Methodist University. He served in the
U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division and the Army Reserve for six years. Professionally, Doug
was a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) and Certified Welding Inspector (C.W.I.) by
the American Welding Society.
He founded Cagle and Associates, Inc. in 1975, an engineering project management firm
concentrating primarily in the oil and natural gas industry. Doug worked forty years in
the petroleum industry and was well-respected in his field. Doug was also known for his
love for the First Baptist Church of Lafayette where he was a loyal member. Most of all,
he was a loving husband and father and proud grandfather who will be deeply missed by his
family, associates and friends. Mr. Cagle is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years,
Diane Lambert Cagle, of Youngsville; three sons, Kevin Cagle and his wife, Ashley of
Lafayette, Douglas "Doc" Cagle, Jr. and his wife, Laura of Semmes, AL and
Christopher "Kit" Cagle and his wife, Andrea of Lewisville, NC; and his six
grandchildren, of whom he was immensely proud. He was preceded in death by his parents
James Joseph Cagle and the former Edna Vaughan. Visiting hours will be observed at
Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 4:00 p.m.
until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the First Baptist Church of Lafayette on
Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. until time of services. Pallbearers will be
Douglas "Doc" Cagle, Kevin D. Cagle, Christopher "Kit" Cagle, Capt.
Robert Howell, Buddy Milican and Claude L-Auger. Honorary Bearers are Ted Landry, Lowell
Thronson, Bill Ray, Jerry Posey and Charles Diaz. Memorial donations may be made in
