Jacob and Elizabeth Cagle do not have traditional markers on their graves. What you see
in the picture are tombs formed over the graves from slabs of rock taken from the river
near their son in law, William C. Cagle's mill. In addition to these two graves,
there is a third grave in the plot that does not have the big rocks. This is thought to
be the grave of one of their children. There are other graves at Bethlehem Baptist with
this type of tomb. If I remember correctly, they're in the section with the Hulsey
graves. Although the graves appear to be in bad shape, they're actually pretty sturdy.
That's more than can be said for the gravestones of his children and grandchildren at
Timber Ridge Cemetery nearby. Time, vandals and lawnmowers have caused several of the
Cagle tombstones in that cemetery to be broken and overturned. It's a shame that more
care isn't taken to preserve one of the oldest cemeteries in that area.

Findagrave has a photo posted July 2009 of Jacob's grave marker which appears to be
overturned & crumbled. Does anyone resarching this line know if anything's been
done to stand the marker upright or repair it? Martha
