Hi Lee,
I am thrilled to connect with you on this very confusing family ancestry!!!!
Confusing for me, at least.
After my posting, I decided to go back and "re-check" everyone in the
lineage and find other references on each person...so far, I feel certain
I'm correct up to David (1660). However, Johann Melchior just didn't prove
to be the right track (followed someone else's connections that I now
believe were totally wrong). I think possibly David's father was John C
Kegel b.1640...but have not had time to follow up. It is obvious from the
years you have spent on this research that this is not a two month
project!!!
If you have any leads or suggestions, I would certainly appreciate your
help. And let me add that your kind, diplomatic way of asking about the
research is most appreciated. I will copy and paste those words next time I
need to ask about the certainty of someone's findings.
Sincerely,
Bev Griggs
Phoenix

Bev,
How and where did you come by David Cagle b. 1660---son of Johann
Melchior Kegel b. 1644 -- son of Melchior
Kegel b. 1613 -- son of Phillip b. 1587 --- son of Phillip Kegel b. 1535.
I am not doubting you, just wondering if
these have been researched.

I am researching my husbands family ... a rookie at this who found a pot
of gold with this site! His grandmother was Victoria Evangeline Cagle b.
1873 in Illinois, daughter of Nathaniel H. Cagle b. 1830 or 1841 in
Tennessee--son of Adam Cagle b. 1790 in North Carolina, son of Leonard
Cagle b. 1730 in Germany--son of Leonhart Cagle b. 1684 -- son of David
Cagle b. 1660---son of Johann Melchior Kegel b. 1644 -- son of Melchior
Kegel b. 1613 -- son of Phillip b. 1587 --- son of Phillip Kegel b.
1535 -------I think!!!!
Everyone seems to have info to share on Adam to Leonhart...a little on
David...but at this point have not seen Johann or his ancestors mentioned.
And surprisingly, I am not finding a lot on Nathaniel. We have a little
info from family stories, but I am eager to add as much as possible to
pass on to the grandchildren. When I feel I've gathered as much data
stateside as I can, I'll move on to the European searches...but I'm
finding all the people in this group to be most valuable.
so thanks in advance for what you might have to share. Bev Griggs in

Bev Griggs, I have never heard of anything past Leonhart Kegel who came to
America in 1732. If I may ask, where did your information come from? If
you
are willing to share. Thanks Randall Cagle, Sequatchie County Tennessee.
