Lee & List,
I have to agree with Lee, as to the Nancy Cagle, being married to John
Cox. Her obit confirms this for sure.
The above Nancy Cagle b. 3-7-1820, I would say was a daughter of one of
the two Cagle's, listed in the 1820 Buncombe Co; NC census.
I beleive at the time of her birth this was the county she was born in.
What was once Transylvania Co; at that time period was Bucnombe Co; NC.
Transylvania Co; was formed in 1861 from Henderson & Jackson Co's.
Henderson Co; NC; was formed from Buncombe Co; in 1838.
So at the time of her birth she was born in Buncombe Co; NC.
I don't have the 1820 Buncombe Co; NC census. From the index online it
shows there were Cagle's, on p 88 & 120.
If someone has this census please give us the listings for them.
The 1800 Buncombe Co; NC census, has the listings for Valentine, Jacob,
and Charles Cagle. These men I think were all in Warren Co; TN by 1820.
So one of the men living in Buncombe Co; in 1820 was likely her father.
