I'm interested in hearing opinion on this too. Everything I have shows that
Jacob b. 1766 was a descendant of John Dutchman. I am descended from this
line through Jacob's daughter Mary (Polly) b. April 1796. Mary and her
husband, William C. Cagle (supposed son of the Widow Honor Cagle), lived and
died in Hall Co., GA.

Subject: Jacob Cagle, b. 1766 and Elizabeth Gilmore.
LaMona,
I got to thinking about old Jacob whom you asked about and it seems John
G. subscribes to the
theory that Jacob, b. 1766 is the son of Charles Sr Cagle, b. 1740s. It
is further his opinion that
Widow Honor Cagle is a daughter in law of Charles Sr and that she was the
wife of either,
Charles Jr or Leonard who died in Franklin Co., sometime prior to 1810
and she remained permanently in the area.
It is obvious that John G favors the theory that the pioneer Cagles of
Franklin/Habersham/Banks
Counties were descendants, at least in part, of Charles Sr rather than
John Dutchman.
It seems to me the question has yet to be resolved. Does anyone else
care to comment?
