information herein for those of you

Hello, Lee
Thank you for your background family history. I may not have as much as
I am not related to the Cagles. I have collateral lines that are
similar. However, I will be happy to send you whatever I can find as I
spend a lot of my time researching here in Dallas, TX. (I'm south of
you!)
I found Lawrence County holds a 12 Pioneer Family Reunion held on the 3d
Sunday in September each year in Monett at the City Park Pavilion. The
Reunion has become a tradition now, since it started in 1932. I started
going in 1999 and have now been to 2 of them. My line is related to
James Pemberton Hewlett and Mary Massey Spilman Hewlett (Lamon) Pruitt of
Lawrence Co. Mo. My great grandfather, James I Gaw married Ella Jane
Rugg in Lawrence Co in October 1869 at the age of 23 ( Ella Jane was 18).
Their son, Alden (1872-1943) married Ethel F. Hewlett (1888-1982), gd/o
of James Pemberton and Mary Hewlett who are my grandparents.
James I Gaw's grandfather was Erasmus Gaw, a Christian Church minister
who performed marriages in Lawrence County from 1848 until his death on
May 5, 1865. I found a reference in the Lawrence Co Marriage Records
that Erasmus Gaw married a Cagle and Hewlett or Cagle and Knight about
1862/63 which I was very pleased to come across!
I will check in my other related references, mainly, John Jasper's
"Spilman Family History" (1909), and Oscar Hewlett's "Hewlett Family
Genealogy" (1956) for information about Martha Hewlett and any other
Cagle information.
Have you checked the Bureau of Land Management's website for Cagles in
other Missouri Counties besides Lawrence Co.? It is
www.glorecords/gov.com which is the "Government Land Office Records".
This is pretty interesting to find more new leads and you can get copies
in GIF format of the original land deeds on line and order copies of
original deeds from your family lines!
I have been taking an extra day or 2 to go sightseeing and have visited
Mt Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery and the Boucher Cemetery, 'just up the
road' about 3/4 of a mile. I took 2 rolls of headstone pictures last
year, and will probably keep adding more as I learn more about the area.
Monday, the day after last year's Reunion, I drove up to Aurora from
Monett and then to Mt Vernon and spent about 3 hours in their Court House
Records looking up some things before returning back to Dallas late that
night. It was a 7 hour drive back.
This year, I want to go see the Schooling cemetery as there are some more
Hewletts buried there!
If you are not familiar with the 12 Pioneer Family Reunion of Lawrence
County, you should get in touch with a Mr. Harold "Bud" Burke
(hburke(a)juno.com) and he will be happy to send you a Lawrence County map
showing the known cemeteries, as well as an e-mail list of ALL 12 Pioneer
family descendants of Lawrence County. He also attaches a snail mail
listing as well. What is interesting , is there are about 50-55
descendants for the 12 families lines on-line! He also has a 30 page
summary of ALL 12 families known to the Lawrence County Historical
Society as he is a member of that also. He knows Fred at the Mt Vernon
Court House, Records Clerk who sends out the Lawrence County Newsletter.
I don't remember how much of this I duplicated, but I hope I haven't.
Please excuse me if I did. I would also hope that you would be able to
attend the next 12 Pioneer Family Reunion.
I'll get back to you as soon as I find anything else.

Howdy,
Read your inquiry on the Cagle Genforum. I probably have less
information than you. I do know
a little about Henry and a lot about his ancestors.
Do you have the genealogy information for the descendents of Henry and
Martha Ann?
Tell me if this helps any. Henry is the third child of Leonard Cagle, b.
1780.
