Cuz Jimmy,
How are you doing. Say, I received the following publications today from
John G. Cagle. After
reviewing them, I don't know how I thought I could be serious with this
business without them. I
certainly recommend them to anyone new and just beginning on the Cagle
family.
1. Cagle Land Grants of North Carolina 1767-1918
2. The Cagle Family in the South, to 1850 Vol. II: Georgia - Pt 3: The
Cagles of Northwest Georgia
3. The Cagle Family in the South, to 1850 Vol II: Georgia - Pt 2: The
Cagles of Northeast Georgia
4. On back order for reprint Cagles of Eastcentral Georgia
5. Due out in April the newest-Cagles of Westcentral Georgia
Can you think of any others - Didn't you have one with Census Records?
I thought for sure you
did - If so, give me the name because I for sure need to order that one.
That is the one I most wanted
to get. >>

Hi Cuz,
You are right, the two census books are my favorites for information.
They are really great for beginning the research on an individual. They are:
CAGLE CENSUS RECORDS OF THE SOUTH TO 1850
CAGLE CENSUS RECORDS OF THE SOUTH 1860-1910
If you could only have two of John G.'s books these would probably be the
ones you would want. I have already worn out the first set and the second set
is much worse for wear.
Here is a helpful note to owners of John G's publications that subject
them to extensive use.
I have found that by inserting three or four nylon TY-WRAP straps down
through the caterpillar binders the books hold up much better. All of my
books are now bound with a TYWRAP at each end of the spine and one or two
toward the center. These self-locking plastic strips substantially strengthen
the binding by holding the binding securely in place.
