Descendants of John Cagle
Generation No. 1
1. John4 Cagle (Jacob3, Charles2, Leonhart1 Kegel) was born 1795 in Moore
County, North Carolina, and died Abt. 1830. He married (1) Unknown. He
married (2) Barbara Cagle 24 December 1813 in Clarke Co., GA, daughter of
George Cagle and Unknown. She was born Abt. 1795 in Clarke Co., GA.
Notes for John Cagle:
John served in the War of 1812 with Co C, Lt Col William Jones Brigade
(4th Brigade, GA Militia) from
Nov 21, 1814 to Nov 21 1815, as did John's father. Records from the
National Archives show that neither ever made application for a pension.
John and Barbary make their first appearance in Clarke Co., GA on the Tax
List of 1816, 1817 and 1818.
Neither of Barbary's family nor Isham's, her brother, are found on or
near George on Roberson Creek
for the Tax year 1819.
The 1821 Georgia Land Lottery, opened to white settlement a large tract
of former Indian lands in central Georgia, one of which was to Jacob, c.
1766-1858 and son, John Cagle, 1790s-1820s of Habersham Co:
Caigle, Jacob Habersham Co., Ritche's Dist Houston Co., Dist. 5, Lot 149
Caigle, John Habersham Co., Ritche's Dist Dooly Co., Dist. 5, Lot 133
Jacob's tract was surveyed to on Aug 27, 1821, and granted to him on May
6, 1824. John's
tract, by contrast, was never surveyed or granted to him, but was a
Reverted Lot, which was a term used to describe a lottery draw which was
relinquished by the fortunate drawer, with the land put back into public
trust and later offered for sale to the public. It is unclear why John
Caigle never attempted to possess this lot of 202 acres, unless his
untimely death (late 1820s) was the cause. John died before the 1830
census of Habersham Co., GA and his children were raised in the household
of his father, Jacob Cagle; these children received a full share in the
estate of Jacob after his death in 1858.

Lee,
I have only found 3 daughters for Lucinda Cagle and George
Washington Head.
I have found the burial info on William Pinkney Bell. This is how it
is
written in the back of his book 'WP Bell died in the year 1902 and
was buried
at Pleasant Hill Church Jan 15.' At another place in the book it
says 'W.P.
Bell was borned May the 8 in the year 1849.' So we have found out
the birth
and burial date of WP Bell. (Did you notice that he was buried
almost on
their anniversary! Yuck! That must have been terrible.)
There are two Pleasant Hill cemeteries, so I understand, do you know
if it
was #1 or #2? He has an unmarked grave.
And, thanks very much for the genealogy outline. Will you also give
me the
same kind of outline for each of the father, gfather etc who you
mentioned
that lead up to her?
Thanks again, Lee.
Neda
